Apple launches new iMac in India at ₹1.75 lakh with faster AI performance

The new iMac is aimed at households, students, creators and small businesses looking for an all-in-one desktop computer. Powered by Apple’s M6 chip, it brings faster processing and graphics, with the company claiming up to five times faster on-device artificial intelligence (AI) performance than the previous M4-powered iMac.

For everyday users, the improvements could benefit multitasking, spreadsheet work, photo editing, video projects and running AI models directly on the computer. Apple also claims up to 18 times faster performance than its most popular Intel-based iMac, making older desktop models a key upgrade audience.

AI is central to the update. Running macOS 27, the iMac supports Apple Intelligence features and Siri AI, which Apple says can help users find information across apps, write and edit text, and complete tasks using personal context. The computer can also run compatible AI models on-device, reducing the need to send certain workloads to the cloud.

Connectivity has also been upgraded, with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and storage that Apple says offers up to twice the read and write speeds of the previous generation. Depending on the configuration, users get up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports and support for up to two external 6K displays.

The 24-inch 4.5K Retina display remains, alongside a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera, a six-speaker sound system and colour-matched accessories. The new iMac is available in seven colours: blue, green, pink, yellow, purple, orange and silver.

The new iMac starts at ₹1,74,900 for the configuration with a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU.
