A New ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Preview Plays Ball and Not Much Else

The clock keeps counting down to Avengers: Doomsday. It’s been a while since we’ve gotten a new preview for it, so Marvel thought you might need some help with that and got some ad space in the first World Series game.

At a minute long, about half the footage is just different baseball players setting up scenes from the movie itself. Those moments are more about comedy and world-building, like showing the Fantastic Four’s popular enough on Earth-828 that Mister Fantastic gets to make the first pitch of the game and Scott getting his wires crossed now that two Caps are around. (Unfortunately, you just had to know that gag would be in the movie.)

Those hoping for a deeper look at Avengers: Doomsday will have to wait another few weeks, it seems, since Marvel’s playing surprisingly close to the chest for its big superhero epic. Other than this, the other big piece of recent news was the Hollywood Reporter announcing Sandra Hüller (Project Hail Mary) will have a cameo in the film. As you might expect, details on her role are shrouded in secrecy at this time, but rumors have indicated she may play Doctor Doom’s mother or one of the mysterious Latverian witches teased in some materials.

We’ll know for sure when Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18.
