The platform hands every creator real-time audience insights, competitive benchmarking, and post-level attribution at no cost. The problem is not access. The problem is that most creators have not opened it in weeks.
Instagram's Professional Dashboard sits one tap below every creator's bio, free to anyone with a Business or Creator account. It pulls real-time data directly from Instagram's systems at no cost, surfaces reach, interactions, profile activity, audience breakdown, and professional features such as branded content and subscriptions, and tracks competitive insights for up to 10 competitor accounts.
It is the single most underused screen on the app, and most creators who say they do not know what is working have not actually looked at their Insights in the past month.
The Professional Dashboard is not new. It launched in 2021 and has gone through several redesigns; as of 2026, it is the primary surface Instagram uses to announce new features to creators, surface monetization options, and show analytics. The platform has added granular, post-level metrics that give a crystal-clear view of what drives engagement, when audiences are most active, and which posts actually bring in new followers. In April 2026, Instagram reorganised Insights into three dedicated tabs (Overview, Engagement, and Audience) and added share rate, skip rate, and views over time metrics.
Yet the gap between what Instagram provides and what creators actually use remains wide.
