Donatella Versace, A$AP Rocky and Chloé Zhao will select 50 winners based on four criteria that override reach. The judging panel itself is Instagram's roadmap for what brands should look for when creative risk matters more than scale.

Instagram has announced the 2026 Rings judging panel, with 14 judges including Donatella Versace, A$AP Rocky, Chloé Zhao, FINNEAS, and Vikas Khanna selecting this year's winners through nominations and voting. The pool of winners will double from 25 last year to 50 this year, with the announcement scheduled for 29 October.

Follower count will not factor into the decision, with Rings recognising creators taking their craft in new directions whether they have ten thousand or ten million followers.

The judging panel is the story. Not because it features famous names, but because its composition maps exactly what Instagram wants brands and agencies to value when metrics-based selection fails.

Instagram judges Rings recipients on originality, creative courage, craft, and cultural impact. These are not aesthetic preferences. They are filters for content that survives beyond the week it ships.

The award focuses on the creative process, including exploring ideas, overcoming self-doubt and experimenting with different forms of expression, rather than a specific content format. This distinction matters because it shifts evaluation from what performed to how it was made and whether it moved anything.
