Zelda Producer Is Worried About How Ocarina Of Time Remake Reviews Will "Turn Out"

The Legend of Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma has admitted that, despite very positive previews, he’s “nervous” about releasing the Ocarina of Time remake.

Although Grand Theft Auto 6 is undeniably the biggest remaining game of 2026 (and really, of all time), it’s got some fair competition in the form of Nintendo’s long-awaited Ocarina of Time remake. Even as a remake of a game that we all know like the back of our hand, Ocarina of Time is shaping up to be a massive hit, likely the biggest the Switch 2 has seen so far.

A new Zelda was always going to do well sales-wise, but previews for the Ocarina of Time remake have been incredibly positive and make it look certain that the game is going to be a hit. Even with all of that in mind, series producer Eiji Aonuma says that he’s “nervous” about the release and how it’s going to go down.

As reported by My Nintendo News, Japan Today recently had the chance to chat with Eiji Aonuma about the impending release of the Ocarina of Time remake. During the interview, Aonuma shared how he’s feeling about the remake, as well as briefly discussing the future of Zelda as a whole.

I played the Ocarina of Time remake weeks ago, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since.

Aonuma noted that he’s “nervous about releasing the remake of Ocarina” because he doesn’t know “how it’s going to turn out”, something that he can’t stop thinking about.
