Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake reportedly running at 60 fps on PC just hours after game's official Nintendo Switch 2 release

I've spent all night playing The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake on the Switch 2, and it's a fantastic experience, but some would prefer to tinker and toil over an emulator than enjoy Link's new look. The game is already running on PC, but performance issues are aplenty.

You can see progress is moving pretty fast from the emulator crowd, just from these two videos by Unreal Gaming PC on YouTube.

Published on the game's official launch day, November 5, this video shows the game getting over the splash screen and running the cutscenes fairly well; however, it suffers from bad flickering, stuttering, and frame rates around the 20-30 fps mark during gameplay.

12 hours later, another video. This time showing the game running between 30–60 fps during gameplay, albeit with some persistent flickering and stutters throughout. There's undoubtedly still a long way to go to a playable experience to match the native Switch 2, but that's marked progress for half a day's work. Especially considering the game is designed for an Arm-powered handheld with very different hardware to what's running the emulator (Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 64 GB of RAM, and RTX 4080).

User akakevinvro on X also posted a video claiming a pretty steady 60 fps.

Both are running on the Lichii emulator for the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. It's called the "VERY experimental Nintendo Switch 2 emulator" on its GitHub page. It's an open-source project that has similarities to projects of the same ilk, such as Yuzu.
