Wolverine Was The Best-Selling Game Of September In The US

Circana’s data confirms that Marvel’s Wolverine was the best-selling game of September in the US, despite the incredibly loud backlash it was up against.

The culture of gaming is in a pretty rough place this generation, which is something that we’re reminded of whenever a new triple-A game releases. By far the biggest example of this in recent memory is Marvel’s Wolverine, which started as one of the most-anticipated PlayStation games on the horizon, before suddenly becoming the internet’s punching bag.

From the somewhat more mixed reviews to features like the controversial “fart trail” gas, Wolverine couldn’t seem to escape controversy last month. Things did at least seem to get a little better when people played it for themselves, though, and it looks like a lot of people did, as Wolverine launched to some strong sales.

Earlier today, Mat Piscatella shared Circana’s projected physical and digital sales data for September, which puts Marvel’s Wolverine in the top spot above heavy-hitters like NBA 2K27, EA Sports FC 27, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, The Blood of Dawnwalker, Wardogs, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword.

Logan’s first triple-A outing has some flaws, but brutal combat and a heartfelt story make it another standout Marvel game.

It’s not just Cirana’s data that confirms Wolverine was a hit, though, as PlayStation also revealed September’s best-selling games on the PS Store . In the US, Marvel’s Wolverine is in first place, beating out EA Sports FC 27, NBA 2K27, Halloween, Dawnwalker, and Madden NFL 27, to name a few of the big dogs.
