Where to Find Pei (A Puppet's Wooden Heart) in Phantom Blade Zero

As you explore the Village of Lu in Phantom Blade Zero, you will come across the Temple of Butterflies and several Puppet NPCs. One of them, the Songstress Puppet, asks Soul to deliver a letter. However, the next objective is not marked, unlike many other side quests, making it easy to miss Pei, the person you need to find. This guide covers the quest and his location.

The Mandate Encampment is locked when you first reach the Village of Lu. Here's where to find its key in Phantom Blade Zero.

After taking the letter from the Songstress Puppet, continue exploring the Village of Lu and follow the main story path until you reach the northeastern part of the region, where the Survivors' Courtyard Bell is located.

There are several NPCs in this area, including a Monk who can receive the Prayer Beads in exchange for an accessory. However, the person you need to find for the Songstress Puppet's letter is a man wearing purple robes and sitting on a haystack.

As you approach him, you will hear him mention Qingniang to himself, wondering why she keeps calling out her name in his dreams. Soul will then deliver the letter from the Songstress Puppet, causing Pei to shout "Ghost" and run away.

After Pei runs away, travel to the Engine Giant Remains Bell and look for him in the nearby field. You will discover that his consciousness has been extracted through Soul Displacement, leaving an empty vessel behind.

Once you have checked on Pei, return to the Temple of Butterflies to find the two Puppets.
