Eternal Wakestones are consumable items in Dragon's Dogma 2 that you can get by completing Sphinx riddles, whether they be at Vermund/Battahl, or the Norgan region from the Dark Arisen DLC. You'll receive a reward every time you correctly answer a riddle, and if you solve the right ones, you'll get an Eternal Wakestone for your efforts.
Unfortunately, Eternal Wakestones don't work the way you'd expect them to in Dragon's Dogma 2, but there's a trick you can use to make them truly eternal.
If the default Dragon's Dogma 2 experience isn't clicking for you, then maybe a change in difficulty is warranted.
As of writing, there are two known locations where you can get an Eternal Wakestone, and both of them involve Sphinxes. The first is the Sphinx in Vermund's Mountain Shrine, which you can reach by going through the Ancient Battleground near the Checkpoint Rest Town. The second is the Sage in Norgan. One of the main Dark Arisen quests will take you to her location.
To get the Eternal Wakestone from the Sphinx in the Mountain Shrine, you'll need to use an Unmaking Arrow, which you can get from one of the Sphinx's riddles during the Game of Wits quest. You can also buy one from the Dragonforged.
If all you want is to get the Eternal Wakestone, then all you have to do is kill the Sphinx with the Unmaking Arrow. Once she's gone, she'll drop the Key of Sagacity , whose only purpose is to open the big, gold chest on the Mountain Shrine behind the Sphinx's original location.
