The Wolf Among Us Remastered delivers a polished experience for both new and returning players, leaving everyone hungry for the sequel.
I’ve always had a strange relationship with Telltale games. Some have been incredible experiences that I couldn’t get enough of, while others were so rough that I couldn’t even finish them. So, despite knowing a fair amount about The Wolf Among Us Remastered before diving in, I still wasn’t sure how I’d feel about it.
That’s not to say that a detective-centered whodunnit about fairy-tale creatures in the human world wasn’t an incredibly intriguing concept. It just also had the potential to be too silly to take seriously, so I went in cautiously open-minded. Thankfully, and as I’m sure many of you are already well aware, I found a gritty story full of dark moments and hard choices that I became so invested in that I played through the whole game in a single day.
I won’t spend too much time on the story here, partly because some of you have already played it and also because, for those of you who haven’t, it’s a mystery you’re meant to solve that I wouldn’t want to spoil. It follows Bigby Wolf, a short-tempered personification of the Big Bad Wolf, who also happens to be the detective of Fabletown, a community of fairy-tale folk in the human world.
While keeping his cool — or losing it if the violent route appeals to you — Bigby quickly becomes responsible for hunting down the murderer of two girls from the fairy tale community.
