When it comes to South Korean Hunters in the Solo Leveling series, the most prevalent one that always comes to mind is Sung Jinwoo, our main character. By the end of the second season of the anime, Jinwoo is undeniably the strongest in Korea, and by the end of the story, he also becomes the strongest in the whole world. That said, Sung Jinwoo wasn't the first legendary Hunter to come out of the country.
While South Korea technically doesn't have any official National Level Hunter, one man came quite close to attaining that title, and that was Go Gun-Hee. Go Gun-Hee is an important character in the overarching lore of Solo Leveling, but due to his old age and heart issues, he lost much of his strength. However, a new Solo Leveling Arise release, Holy Barrier Go Gun Hee, works a new twist on the iconic Hunter and introduces him with a new backstory, showing us how he awakened his powers and how he went on to found the Hunter Association of South Korea.
Go Gun-Hee is a fan-favorite character from the Solo Leveling series. In the Solo Leveling anime, he first made his debut in Season 1 Episode 1. We were introduced to this character as the Chairman of the Hunter Association of South Korea, and his importance grew quickly from there onward. Go Gun-Hee became a major mentor figure to our protagonist, Sung Jinwoo, guiding him forward on his journey. Sadly, despite being quite an imposing figure, he was never able to make use of his full potential even though he had amazing power hidden in him.
