Solo Leveling Officially Confirms New God-Level Villains

Solo Leveling is an exciting South Korean story that follows, for the most part, Sung Jinwoo. Solo Leveling's novel ended in 2018, but the world didn't stop expanding here. In 2023, Solo Leveling got its first official sequel, titled Solo Leveling: Ragnarok.

Instead of Sung Jinwoo, this sequel story follows Sung Suho, and instead of the Monarchs, who took on the role of main antagonists, new, stronger god-level villains took center stage. These new villains are the Itarim. The concept of Itarim was first introduced in the original Solo Leveling series, but it is only through Ragnarok that they were expanded on. Sung Suho's journey has made them central figures, and we were finally exposed to their true godly powers in this new sequel. The Itarim are the biggest threat ever faced in the Solo Leveling world. With Solo Leveling Ragnarok Season 3 debuting soon, we will see more of them as Sanjimseung picks up from where Jin left off in Chapter 68.

Chugong first created Solo Leveling in 2016, and his story went on to reach its official end in 2018. Of course, afterwards, the Solo Leveling series went on to receive many new projects, some of which include the manhwa in 2018 and, more recently, the anime by Aniplex and A-1 Pictures from 2024. These projects, however, are simply a new medium for Jinwoo's story, and don’t offer anything new with regard to lore. But that is where Solo Leveling Ragnarok shakes things up.

Solo Leveling Ragnarok was released in 2023 as a sequel with brand-new content, giving us more lore pertaining to the Solo Leveling world.
