Six Years Later, Cyberpunk 2077 Is Still Getting Updates

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners’ second season is out on Netflix today, and I didn’t really care for it very much. That said, the first season in 2022 had a real hand in rehabilitating Cyberpunk 2077’s image after its rocky 2020 launch, so it makes sense that CD Projekt Red would be doing something with the RPG to commemorate the second season’s premiere.

Cyberpunk 2077’s 2.5 update is coming this week on October 22, and while the team didn’t get too into the details about what it would include, it did schedule a new REDStreams presentation to talk about the patch for tomorrow, October 21st at 10 a.m. Eastern. The announcement does mention “cyberware customization” and “a new dual-wielding playstyle.” as some of the additions in the 2.5 update. Based on the promo image, which shows protagonist V standing back to back with Weak Kingsley, one of the characters in Edgerunners II, there may also be some new photo mode poses and other features, as V is shown dual-wielding guns, which is not a pose typically seen in-game. Or this could just be bespoke art. We’ll see tomorrow.

While Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a few updates here and there, the bulk of CD Projekt Red is working on The Witcher IV , which is set to launch in 2028 . The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is getting a new DLC to hold people over until the next game, though, so the wait won’t feel that long. A sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 is also in the works, but that is still likely years away.
