Shrek 2 Remaster Likely Being Revealed Next Week

The Shrek 2 movie game remaster that was uncovered as part of Steam’s achievement list leak might be getting properly revealed in less than a week.

It’s been such a busy time in the world of video games lately that I wouldn’t blame you for forgetting that Steam suffered an absolutely gargantuan leak a little over a month ago. Not only did the achievement list leak share tons of spoilers for upcoming releases like Kingdom Hearts 4 and Persona 6, but it also outright revealed games that we had no idea were coming.

For my money, the highlight of the achievement list leak was the discovery of a surprise remaster of the iconic Shrek 2 tie-in game. A Shrek 2 remaster was so out of left field that it almost seemed like a joke, but it looks like we might be seeing the return of the king far sooner than any of us expected.

As perfectly pointed out by Redditor ShrekHistory on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, IGN recently shared a post teasing the ID@Xbox Showcase, which is set to take place in less than a week on October 20. Alongside the post, a sizzle reel was shared for the event, which notably features Shrek for a very brief moment.

Thanks to Steam’s big leak, it's incredibly likely that what IGN is teasing here is the official announcement of the Shrek 2 remaster. We still don’t really know just how much work is being put into bringing the surprisingly good co-op brawler back, so it’ll be interesting to see if it’s a simple port or a full coat of paint.
