RPG Maker U2U P2D Map Editor Demo launches on Steam, alongside community, map-sharing event

Gotcha Gotcha Games has released the P2D Map Editor Demo for RPG Maker U2U as part of the game development toolkit’s participation in Steam Next Fest. Alongside the demo, the company is hosting a community event inviting players to share screenshots of maps they create using the new editor.

The event, titled Let’s Make Some P2D Maps!, encourages users to experiment with the demo and showcase their creations. There will be no judging or rankings, with the focus instead on sharing ideas and celebrating the community’s creativity.

RPG Maker U2U is the latest entry in the RPG Maker series of game development tools. One of its new features is P2D, or Perspective 2D, a map style that lets users create environments with a sense of height and depth through intuitive controls.

The P2D Map Editor Demo allows users to build their own maps, experiment with various visual effects and preview walking animations. Map data created in the demo can also be saved and carried over to the full version of RPG Maker U2U when it launches.

The demo is available on Steam, although some features remain in development and specifications may change. It does not include game creation functionality and is scheduled to be available from October 20 to November 16, 2026.

Players can participate in the map-sharing event by posting a screenshot of a map created with the demo in the designated Steam Community Hub thread or on X using the event hashtag. Those submitting through the Steam Community Hub must first add RPG Maker U2U to their Steam wishlist before posting their screenshots.
