One Piece Creator Oda Officially Changes Sanji Forever

One Piece chapter 1196 was officially released by Eiichiro Oda on October 18, 2026, in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 47. This chapter of One Piece was largely focused on the battle between the Holy Knight Saint Killingham and the cook of the Straw Hat Pirates, Sanji. This battle has been slowly building up over the last few chapters, and now it is finally reaching its climax.

While Sanji was largely dominant in the fight against Killingham, his lack of the Color of the Supreme King meant that he was eventually wearing himself down, while Killingham was simply able to regenerate as an immortal, gaining a significant advantage over him. One Piece chapter 1196 put a unique twist on the cook of the Straw Hats and finally changed him forever by making him realize his own self-worth for the very first time. At the same time, it gave him the perfect basis to finally unlock the Color of the Supreme King.

One Piece chapter 1196 was incredibly significant for the character of Sanji. In many ways, this chapter can be seen as the culmination of Sanji's entire character arc and a perfect way to round it off after years of development. Sanji started receiving a ton of exposition from creator Eiichiro Oda, starting with the Whole Cake Island arc. This is because, in this arc, Sanji's background, which connected him to the dangerous Vinsmoke family of the North Blue, was finally exposed. It was also revealed to us via a flashback that Sanji was severely abused by his family as a kid .
