Once Canceled 1994 SNES Game Is Coming to Nintendo Switch

Moto-X is a 1994 SNES motocross simulation that's been confirmed for an imminent release on the Nintendo Switch. Despite being a complete game, Moto-X was initially shelved and did not receive its first release until 2023, when it became available on physical SNES cartridges. Now, the game is ready to come to some modern consoles.

There appear to be several reasons why Moto-X was canceled in the 1990s. For one, developer Software Creations, also known for the Commodore 64 version of Bubble Bobble, believed the game lacked depth. More importantly, the game's publisher suddenly shifted its focus to interactive movie games, leaving Moto-X behind even though it was almost ready to ship (via Games That Weren't).

Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can now play three new Game Boy Advance games.

The official Nintendo eShop page for Moto-X's re-release is ready, with the game priced at $5.99 USD. The new version includes no notable enhancements or upgrades, making it much the same as the original SNES racing game that Software Creations planned to release. "Revive the moto racing spirit with this game, developed in 1994," reads the official description. While Moto-X is set to launch on Nintendo Switch, the storefront also lists it as compatible with Nintendo Switch 2, which is good news for fans of retro racing games.

Fans of classic two-player games should also know that Moto-X supports split-screen multiplayer . As for the gameplay, the developer says there are three different skill levels, each with five tracks to compete on using motorcycles of 250cc, 550cc, and 750cc.
