Nikita Buyanov, the game director behind Escape from Tarkov, premiered the first gameplay trailer for his next major project: Fragmentary Order.
Featuring 14 minutes of in-engine footage, the broadcast offered the first true look at the hardcore sci-fi tactical shooter, set across the Solar System in the year 2251.
“We’re not building a match you play. We’re building a world you live in, for years. Tarkov is still worth playing after ten years, and I want Fragmentary Order to be just as playable and engaging a decade from now,” said Buyanov, game director of Fragmentary Order, in a statement.
We wrote the first story about the game and interviewed Buyanov about it earlier this year.
Following the debut, Nikita announced the launch of the Prime Batch program, the game’s official paid early access program. Moving beyond traditional early access, Prime Batch is designed as an elite, closed program specifically for dedicated players who want to participate and support development. In Fragmentary Order, war has been outsourced. Players fight through RepEnts, remotely operated clones deployed across a broad theater of operations. In this system, losing a RepEnt is a cost, not an end: death is a business expense, risk is an investment, and combat is labor.
The game takes a hard sci-fi “predicting-the-future” approach. With large-scale maps featuring varying environmental conditions, vehicles, drones, smart systems and squad-based operations of up to four players, every engagement requires careful planning and execution.
Prime Batch is Fragmentary Order’s paid closed testing program, running throughout the pre-public development phase and unobtainable afterwards.
