Newly announced action-adventure game Mihira: The Eternal Arc claims to have both Soulslike and Metroidvania elements, but what has caught gamers' attention is how closely it resembles the PS2-era Prince of Persia games. 2026 has not been the best year for Prince of Persia fans, as Ubisoft finally canceled the long-anticipated Sands of Time Remake. However, games like Mihira could help scratch that itch.
The story premise in Mihira: The Eternal Arc is enough to remind fans of games like Prince of Persia. Players take on the role of the titular Indian princess, who can manipulate time and travel between the past and present. Based on what has been revealed so far, time manipulation will also play a significant role in the gameplay, allowing Princess Mihira to uncover secret paths and gain an advantage in specific parts of the game.
A brand-new Steam game looks like a mashup of Cuphead and Hollow Knight, with the developer acknowledging both games as inspirations.
Developed by an Indian team, Mihira: The Eternal Arc appears to draw inspiration from three defining aspects of classic Prince of Persia games: time manipulation, fluid combat, and 3D platforming. Mihira can view each location across two different timelines , with each concealing its own secrets, paths, and encounters. The combat could be compared to that of some indie Souls-lite games , featuring punishing counterstrikes and parry-focused attacks. As for the parkour elements, little has been revealed so far, aside from the fact that Mihira will have Metroidvania-style exploration.
