Love it or hate it, you've probably encountered the Twilight series at some point in your life. And the popularity of the vampire romantic drama is not over yet: Netflix is taking Midnight Sun, a 2020 novel that retells Twilight from Edward Cullen's perspective, and turning it into an animated series. It is now confirmed that the Midnight Sun adaptation will be a two-season series.

Twilight is a fantasy movie starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, and it took the world by storm in 2008. It is an adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's 2005 vampire romance book. Despite being heavily parodied at the time, it had a following of millions. For many, it was the best thing since sliced bread. Whether you fall into that category or not, you might be interested in Netflix's animated series adaptation.

Netflix is dipping its toes into the Twilight saga with the release of an animated show called Midnight Sun, based on the 2020 novel by Stephenie Meyer. While the original Twilight book is narrated by Bella Swan, Midnight Sun goes through the same events but from Edward Cullen's point of view.

Rather than seeing Bella figure out who and what Edward is, Midnight Sun lets readers understand what goes through his mind as a vampire navigating the world and as he falls in love with Bella. It's an interesting perspective, and we get first-hand experience of what he was thinking at key points in the story — like the biology classroom scene — which is completely different compared to Bella's point of view.
