Fans of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition have eight new reasons to climb aboard the Normandy again thanks to an ambitious Spectre expansion mod that opens up much more of the galaxy for Shepard to explore. Mass Effect: Legendary Edition owners can look forward to lore expansions, new conversations, and even restored content from the original trilogy.
Released in 2021, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition brought BioWare's original sci-fi drama trilogy together with remastered visuals and some particularly substantial improvements to the first game. On PC, however, the Mass Effect collection has continued evolving long after BioWare stopped updating it, thanks to a modding scene that has fixed bugs, restored cut content, changed endings, expanded locations, and entirely new material. For players who already know Shepard's story almost by heart, those modding projects have made additional runs feel fresh and different every time.
The latest massive mod to hit 2007's Mass Effect as part of the Legendary Edition is the Spectre Expansion Mod for LE1 , created by Audemus Tydeous as part of the wider Spectre Expansion series. Audemus has expanded the initial galaxy map by unlocking Arcturus Stream and Petra Nebula by default, while players can purchase access to eight additional clusters through the Baria Frontiers store in the Citadel's Lower Markets. Those regions let Shepard explore the home systems of the Asari, Turians, Salarians, Volus, Elcor, Hanar, Krogan, and Batarians, each with their own planets and celestial bodies. The mod also expands existing collection assignments, adds a new Alliance Black Boxes hunt, restores Mars' moon Phobos, and introduces randomized squadmate comments when new discoveries are made.
