Marvel Comics may be gearing up for the Hulk War: Infernal Rage crossover, but they're also looking ahead to what's next for the iconic hero. The publisher revealed that they'll be relaunching the monthly Hulk series in 2027, and the first issue will be completely free.
Marvel will release the new Hulk #1 in May 2027 as part of Comics Giveaway Day (the companion event to Free Comic Book Day). The standard edition will be completely free, but fans can also pay to pick up "True Believers Blind Bag" variant copies. Marvel will also be selling bundles that contain 19 blind bag comics and one exclusive glow-in-the-dark variant by artist Patrick Gleason.
The new Hulk series will be written by Chris Condon and illustrated by Alessandro Cappuccio. The duo previously collaborated on Ultimate Wolverine. Here's the official description of the new series:
"Dreams do come true, it seems, even if it comes at the suffering of poor Bruce Banner,” Condon said in a statement. “I am beyond thrilled to be a part of the team chronicling the next era of the Jade Giant at Marvel, and to be reteamed with my pal Alessandro Cappuccio--as well as legendary Hulk editor Mark Paniccia--makes it all the more exciting. I've loved the Hulk since I was a kid and that love has continued to this very day, so I hope people know that what we're crafting is in tribute to everything from Lee & Kirby's initial debut to Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Nic Klein, & company's horrifyingly brilliant Infernal Hulk saga.
