Lucasfilm Reveals Star Wars: Ahsoka Prequel Comic 'Escape From Thrawn' - NYCC 2026

While things are fairly quiet on the Star Wars comics front lately, that should start to change heading into 2027. At NYCC, Lucasfilm and Marvel Comics announced a new miniseries called Star Wars: Ahsoka - Escape From Thrawn that will bridge the gap between seasons of the live-action show.

Escape From Thrawn features a story from Lucasfilm President and CCO (and Ahsoka series creator) Dave Filoni. This five-issue series is scripted by Rodney Barnes (Star Wars: Lando - Double or Nothing) and illustrated by Andrea Di Vito (Annihilation), with cover art by Phil Noto. Check out the cover to the first issue below:

As the cover art suggests, the series focuses specifically on Eman Esfandi's character Ezra Bridger. When last we saw Ezra in Season 1, he had finally escaped from Peridea by stowing away on Grand Admiral Thrawn's ship, the Chimera. Now back in his home galaxy, Ezra will have to find a way to evade Thrawn and his minions and make it back to the New Republic.

Star Wars: Ahsoka - Escape From Thrawn #1 will be released on January 20, 2027, the same day Season 2 of the series debuts on Disney+.
