The Razer Viper V4 Pro is the single best mouse I've laid my sweaty fingertips on, and I've laid them on a fair few. It's sleek, light, has tons of battery life, a comfy shape, and is incredibly well-built. So you can probably understand my excitement to hear that there might be a new, lighter, carbon fiber version just around the corner.
That's according to peripheral reviewer iitzKami, who has posted on X saying that "Razer is going carbon fibre." The reviewer includes some images, too, which do look legit, though it's always difficult to be sure these days.
There'll apparently be a CF version of the DeathAdder V4 Pro, too, with an upgraded sensor and more battery life, but it's the Viper I'm interested in. The Viper V4 Pro is already plenty light at 49 g, but the carbon fibre one is said to be even lighter at 47 g. This is the opposite of what I expected, given that the carbon fibre version of the Corsair Sabre V2 Pro is heavier than the regular one. But hey, I'll take it.
Except actually, maybe I won't take it, because Kami also says the mouse is "currently listed in some markets at roughly $300 USD." This matches what Chinese tech news site Expreview relays, at least if currency conversion rates are relevant. According to the site, (login-walled) JD.com has it listed for 1,999 Chinese Yuan (RMB), which converts to $299 USD.
This price tag is especially hard to stomach given the regular Viper V4 Pro is the cheapest of the newest premium, big-brand gaming mice.
