Long-Running HBO Show Has Become a Major Streaming Hit 27 Seasons In

Max has no shortage of popular TV shows competing for audiences' attention, but an established series has a built-in loyalty after being on the air for years. This appears to be happening with one of the platform's longest-running shows, which has climbed five places on the US streaming charts and now sits #2 on Max's Top 10 TV Shows, according to FlixPatrol.

That TV show is Hard Knocks, HBO's behind-the-scenes look at various NFL teams. The franchise has been around since 2001, expanding in 2021 to cover the "In-Season" format, but the latest installment of Hard Knocks: Training Camp provides an unusually intimate look at one of the NFL's most interesting teams: the Seattle Seahawks. The five-episode season follows the reigning Super Bowl champions and arrived on August 4, with new episodes arriving weekly on HBO and Max.

A simple underdog sports movie has now evolved into one of the cleverest depictions of modern NBA culture ever made.

Hard Knocks is HBO and NFL Films' long-running behind-the-scenes sports series, offering viewers access to an NFL team's training camp as coaches and players prep through in-season and off-season editions. Roster battles, coaching decisions, injuries, rookies attempting to make the team, and players' personal lives are all touched on in Hard Knocks, which has allowed the show to tell a different story each season for over 25 years.

The latest installment marks the first time the Seattle Seahawks have appeared in a season and, more importantly, the first time since the Baltimore Ravens in 2001 that Hard Knocks has followed a defending Super Bowl champion team during their training season.
