Kingdom Hearts Mod Adds KH2's Drive Forms And Combat

A notable new Kingdom Hearts mod lets Sora use all of his combat and movement abilities from Kingdom Hearts 2, which would be truly impressive if it wasn’t vibecoded.

Ever since Kingdom Hearts came to PC, it’s garnered a truly impressive modding community. Custom Keyblades, recreated worlds, playable characters, and even the coliseum mode that Kingdom Hearts 3 desperately needed have all been lovingly crafted by fans over the years. It’s enough to make PC the best place to play Kingdom Hearts.

Of course, modding has taken a bit of a turn over the past few months, with AI tools becoming so powerful that they’re able vibecode mods that would have been frankly impossible before. I’ve been unswayed by the tidal wave of vibecoded creations, but there’s one for the first Kingdom Hearts that feels like it’s gunning for me personally.

As highlighted by Kingdom Hearts YouTuber thegamersjoint, an interesting new mod has been making the rounds on Nexus Mods. The mod, which was posted by JamesPMx but created “exclusively” through vibecoding, brings the combat and movement mechanics of Kingdom Hearts 2 to the first game.

Outside of some minor issues with Kingdom Hearts 3, the Kingdom Hearts Collection on Switch 2 is exactly what we’ve all been wanting.

Not only does that mean Sora has access to his combos, magic (including my beloved Reflect), and finishers from the sequel, but he’s also got access to all of the Drive Forms. As someone who’s seen how hard Kingdom Hearts fans worked to bring just one of those to Kingdom Hearts 3 , it’s a little mind-boggling that we’re at a place where AI can do all of them at once with no bother.
