Hunter x Hunter is one of the biggest series to ever be serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump. The story was created by the legendary Yoshihiro Togashi, also known for his other massive work, Yu Yu Hakusho. Unfortunately, because Togashi often struggles with health issues, the story of Hunter x Hunter is often forced to go on extended hiatuses from time to time.
Fans were thrilled for the manga's return earlier this year, with 10 new chapters continuing the Succession Contest arc after a two-year break, and progress on this arc that has now been going on for over a decade. Sadly, the manga is back on hiatus. With new updates constantly pouring from Togashi's personal X account, we can say for certain that Hunter x Hunter's return is right around the corner. This time around, the wait will be nowhere near as long, as Togashi wraps up work on the next batch.
Hunter x Hunter first started serialization in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #14 all the way back on March 3, 1998. It is the second hit series by creator Yoshihiro Togashi, a legendary mangaka with an impressive track record behind him. Until 2006, Hunter x Hunter had quite a consistent serialization schedule, with only a few breaks here and there along the way.
However, starting in 2006, Togashi began to struggle with consistent manga publication due to many health issues, which is why today, the series has become known for its long and tedious hiatuses. Togashi previously vanished for years with no new updates or chapter releases.
