Let's start from the very basics: Vein Essences are used to trigger a Wild Surge in an area, which spawn 20 Aniimo of the same type, but more importantly, they make the Prismana level of that area rise. The reason why you'd want to raise the Prismana level in an area is to trigger a Prismana Flow, which makes a Prismana Aniimo appear.

While every 24 hours you get three free chances to trigger a Wild Surge, anything after that you have to pay using Vein Essences. Now, it can take anywhere from a single to 20 or more surges to cause a Prismana Flow, which is exactly why Vein Essences are so precious.
