The Magic: The Gathering Debut livestream just wrapped up, so we're looking at everything that was revealed. From confirming the new signature cards to a deeper look at mechanics and gameplay, the debut stream is the starting pistol for each new set and kicks off the preview season.
Star Trek has a big challenge ahead, closing out what has been a relatively strong year in terms of set quality. In-universe sets have been huge hits, while the Universes Beyond ones have left core players feeling somewhat unfulfilled at times. Expectations for the Star Trek set are that it is effectively an Edge of Eternities 2 with a Star Trek overlay, so let's take a look and see if that's the case based on what we've seen so far.
We have confirmation of the full lineup of Signature cards that can be found in the Star Trek Collector Boosters. The list of characters was actually leaked via a WPN post some time ago, but we didn't have complete confirmation of the art for each card, nor which actor would feature as each character.
Star Trek will launch with four brand-new Commander decks, bringing the total for 2026 up to 22 set-related precons.
The first new mechanic that was shown off is called Strange New Worlds; it's an ever-changing mechanic that gives you a bonus based on how many differently named lands you control. For example, on the card Deep Space Scan, it lets you draw X cards, where X is the number of differently named lands you control, and you have no maximum hand size until your next turn.
