The latest patch for Gears of War: E-Day has arrived, and The Coalition continues to add in quality of life improvements, while making an important update to the recently added Ranked Versus mode. It's been a wild week for Gears of War: E-Day, launching to the masses with positive word of mouth and critical reviews, though suffering through an ill-timed server issue over the game's first official weekend of availability.
The October 14 update for Gears of War: E-Day continues making improvements to the overall experience. Following hot on the heels of the Day 1 update for Gears of War: E-Day, this latest patch starts by confirming an issue discovered in the recently launched Ranked Versus mode. Specifically, some players were being placed within the wrong division during placement matches. Thankfully, the problem has been fixed, and placement matches should now be a bit more accurate with determining player rank.
New estimates reveal how Gears of War: E-Day is performing at launch, with Xbox Game Pass dramatically complicating the sales picture.
Following a similar course to what Insomniac changed with Marvel's Wolverine , this update also makes a change to how collectibles are communicated to players. By default, there is an audio chime that players can listen for to help determine where they are in the world. However, inside this update, there's now a setting that allows players to toggle that audio chime off when hunting for collectibles. In addition, The Coalition also reduced the size of on-screen diagnostic text in the bottom left corner of the screen, giving more screen space back to the player.
