GDCA 2027 moves away from nominations-based system, publishers and devs can now submit games for consideration

Eligible games must have launched on PC or console between January 1 and December 31, 2026

The 2027 Game Developers Choice Awards (GDCA) will be accepting submissions from publishers and developers for the first time.

Games released on PC or console between January 1 and December 31, 2026, are eligible. Titles must be submitted to be considered.

GDCA 2027 has no entry fees, and the submission deadline is November 1, 2026.

Previously, the GDCA used a nomination-based voting system through the International Choice Awards Network (ICAN), an invitation-only panel of over 500 creators, developers, and industry members.

Two new award categories have also been introduced: Best Game Launch and Best Gaming Tech.

Winners will be announced at the 2027 GDCA ceremony on Tuesday, March 2 at GDC Festival of Gaming.

Earlier this year, the GDC Festival of Gaming announced additional changes for 2027, including a new Business Hall at Moscone West.

Other updates include three new passes, dedicated options for indie developers and start-ups, and a revised event schedule.

"GDC 2027 is about giving people more choices in how they participate at the show, making the week work better for the way the industry uses GDC today," GDC VP of content strategy Mark DeLoura previously told GamesIndustry.biz.

"The changes are about making the event more accessible, making it easier to make meaningful connections and accomplish what you came to GDC to do."
