Final Fantasy 7: Dear Destiny has officially been announced by Square Enix to launch in March 2027. This new Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth release puts Aerith Gainsborough and Tifa Lockheart front and center for a new story prior to Revelation's release next year.
Square Enix is two games into its Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy, which is set to conclude with Revelation in April 2027. The trilogy began in 2020, with both releases so far being as critically acclaimed as the 1997 original. While a fresh coat of paint for the game might have sufficed, Square Enix has taken a more comprehensive approach, fleshing out Final Fantasy 7 for a truly modern experience.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is making a major difficulty change that could significantly alter how veteran players approach the trilogy finale.
Square Enix has opened pre-orders for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Dear Destiny, a new novel featuring Aerith Gainsborough and Tifa Lockheart that explores their lives leading up to the main narrative of Final Fantasy 7, featuring "a bonus short story set during Cloud’s time as a Shinra trooper." It's the sequel to Traces of Two Pasts, which released in Japanese in July 2021 and was not translated to English until March 2023.
Final Fantasy 7: Dear Destiny is planned to release on March 16, 2027. It was originally set to launch on January 28, but was recently delayed. 99 for a hardcover copy. Like the previous novel in the series, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Dear Destiny is written by author Kazushige Nojima, who has worked extensively on the series since 1994, so fans are in safe hands with this upcoming release.
