Final Fantasy 14 has made a big change to the way that it sells cosmetics in its online store. The change will give Final Fantasy 14 players more flexibility in how they choose cosmetics to customize their characters.
Final Fantasy 14 players often joke that glamour is the real endgame of the MMORPG. A big change came at the end of 2025, when Final Fantasy 14 lifted job restrictions from glamours, allowing players an even wider variety of looks to customize their characters with. While this new change isn't on the same level, it may open up new options to a lot of players who had hesitated before making purchases.
Square Enix officially confirms the May 2027 release date for Final Fantasy 14: Bygone Serenity.
Square Enix has now changed the way that hairstyles are sold in its online store. Previously, a number of hairstyles were only available through the purchase of an entire cosmetic set, like the Final Fantasy 14 Lightning Attire, which is based upon the Final Fantasy 13 character. Now, however, the Modern Aesthetic items required to unlock these hairstyles have been decoupled from their associated outfits, with each now on sale separately. Most of the hairstyles cost $5 separately, with the Final Fantasy 13 crossover hairstyles being an exception, as Lightning and Snow's hairstyles are paired under a single listing for the same $5.
Previously, the only way to acquire many hairstyles in Final Fantasy 14 was to purchase the entire clothing set, which typically cost around $15 on the online store.
