Amazon has announced a January 13, 2027 release date for its reality competition show, Fallout Shelter: The Experiment.
Confirmation comes via a short video that shows a Pip-Boy displaying the message: “The world is ending. The competition is just beginning.”
Good morning, future Vault Dwellers! Please Stand By for an important announcement.
Fallout Shelter: The Experiment — an all-new competition series — arrives January 13, only on @primevideo. https://t.co/U87TSfNayV
Fallout Shelter the video game is Bethesda’s strategy spinoff in which you manage a vault and its dwellers while under constant pressure from the wasteland. Here's the official blurb on the 10-episode series:
Here's the Fallout Shelter program description, from the now closed casting call:
Fallout Shelter: The Experiment is produced by Studio Lambert, the company that’s also behind The Traitors and Squid Game: The Challenge. Amazon MGM Studios and Bethesda Game Studios are also involved. Todd Howard is down as executive producer.
The release date announcement comes on Fallout Day, (October 23, 2077 is of course the day in the Fallout timeline when the bombs fell, sparking The Great War that caused the irradiated wasteland fans of the franchise have been playing in over the last few decades). This week, Bethesda made a number of relatively low-key announcements, including eye-catching mods for Fallout 4 and some fun real-world collaborations.
Fallout’s 30th anniversary arrives next year, so expect more from Bethesda then. What’s it working on? It’s got everything from Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters to Fallout 5, with an Obsidian-developed Fallout spinoff thrown in for good measure.
