Every Resident Evil Game In Release Order

Updated on October 26, 2026, by Mark Sammut: Resident Evil goes from strength to strength, and the future is bright for the franchise. However, we should not forget the past, as Capcom has done such a great job keeping Resident Evil relevant through its releases. I've updated this article with new images, intro, and a section for Veronica.

With a successful new movie, an upcoming video game remake, and a highly anticipated expansion, Capcom's Resident Evil is on top of the horror world, a spot that it has held since 1996. In terms of main numbered releases, there are 10 Resident Evil games if we take into account Zero; however, that is really just the tip of the iceberg, and Capcom is always in the process of dropping a new entry in the series. Due to the sheer quantity of titles, keeping track of the Resident Evil games' release order can be a touch frustrating, so let's simplify matters by going over all the console entries.

1996's Resident Evil got things going, and 2026's Requiem is the most recent game in the franchise, although it won't hold that position long since RE Veronica is set to launch in 2027. Be it on the PS1, Nintendo DS, or modern systems, Capcom has taken quite a few risks with its biggest IP, and nearly every game is worth playing to an extent (as even the spin-offs are generally part of the canon lore). Starting from the mid-90s, let's go through all the official Resident Evil games (so, no fan games like Resident Evil: The Other Survivors ).
