Dune: Awakening’s Console Launch Changes How You Play the Survival Game

Dune: Awakening is now available on PS5 and Xbox. The console launch also brings a major update to the survival game. Players can now play the full game alone through a new single-player mode. Additionally, there are customizable gameplay settings and fresh story content. 

Moreover, players can also choose from three difficulty levels or change settings for harvesting, XP, death penalties, sandstorms, building limits, and item durability. PvP is optional, so players can stay in PvE and still access the main content and rewards.

Reports mention that the Deep Desert endgame has separate PvE and PvP scenarios, where the PvP version offers higher risks and rewards. The Landsraad faction endgame also consists of the same mechanism. Players can experience the rebuilt version of it in both multiplayer PvE and single-player.

The update also adds the third part of The Great Convention story. Combat gets several changes, including a longer parry window and new enemy behaviour. Two new weapons, Dual Blades and Pyrocket, are also available. 

The Rapier now comes with a stronger focus on parrying. Death penalties have been reduced, while base and vehicle backups make losing progress less painful. A USD 9.99 Filmic Archive DLC also adds items inspired by the Dune films.

Survival games are often built around pressure. Dune: Awakening is now giving players more control over that pressure. This makes the game easier to approach without taking away its main survival systems.
