Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit Staging a Comeback

The Dragon Ball Z video game lineup has covered every part of Goku and the Z Fighters' journey over the years, from classic fighting games to larger action RPGs and arena fighters, and Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit is now staging a comeback. The best DBZ games helped establish the series as one of the biggest names in anime gaming, with each generation finding new ways to bring the battles from the anime to consoles, and Xenoverse being the main subseries right now.

Not every Dragon Ball Z game has received the same treatment over time, however. Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit remains an interesting example, especially for fans who remember the late 2000s era of Dragon Ball games. Released in 2008 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Burst Limit focused on the Saiyan, Frieza, and Cell arcs through its Z Chronicles mode, combining fast-paced fighting with presentation heavily inspired by the anime.

The official DBZ remake is setting up a brand-new take on the Cell Games as Dragon Ball SD breaths new life into the series' best Saga.

Now, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit is getting an unofficial new lease on life on PC. A fan project known as Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit Recompiled has transformed the Xbox 360 version into a native Windows x64 application ( available on GitHub ), giving the 2008 game access to modern hardware and features that were obviously unavailable on the original consoles. The project allows Burst Limit to run at resolutions up to 4K while supporting frame rates far beyond the original 30 FPS target, considerably improving the DBZ fighting game .
