I’ve somewhat had enough of live-service games, so hearing that Bend Studio's rumored next project may be taking a different approach is already a welcome surprise. Best known for developing Days Gone, Bend Studios has built a reputation for creating expansive worlds filled with dangerous encounters and memorable characters. According to an October 31 report from MP1st, the Days Gone developer is working on a third-person cooperative game that isn't currently planned as a live-service title.
While details still remain scarce, I'd call it an encouraging direction for the studio. There's nothing wrong with wanting to play a game with friends, but that doesn't mean every multiplayer experience needs battle passes, seasonal content, or an endless stream of updates to keep players invested. I personally feel like traditional games are just as, if not more, important to the industry: they allow developers to focus on delivering complete experiences, rather than rushing to find ways to keep player engagement long after launch. They're an integral part of what made most of us fall in love with gaming, and if the report is accurate, Bend Studio could be onto something that PlayStation needs more of.
New leaks hint at a brand-new game set to release on PlayStation consoles in 2027, featuring a veteran development studio at the helm.
There's quite a bit to unpack from MP1st's report , and even more so for anyone who’s been waiting to see what Bend Studio has been working on since Days Gone .
