The latest game to pass a 1 million copies sold milestone is Control Resonant. Developer Remedy Entertainment broke the news yesterday, roughly three weeks after the game's release, revealing that Resonant is now the fastest-selling game in the Finnish studio's 31-year history.
Remedy didn't share a digital/physical split, nor say which platform led sales, but these are good numbers for a Remedy game, and even more impressive considering the unusually packed September release schedule Resonant released into.
Remedy CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon, who took over as boss of the company in February, called this a "very strong start". "Control Resonant is Remedy's first self-published release of this scale, launched into one of the most competitive windows in years alongside the industry's biggest names," Gaudechon said.
"We have always believed Control deserved an even bigger audience, and this launch shows what's possible: we see the game connecting with long-time fans while bringing a significant number of new players into the world of Control, which strengthens its long-term potential."
Gaudechon's comments are particularly notable as the executive - who previously led a sports betting platform - recently had to assuage fans who feared his leadership would take the studio in a different direction.
To that end, Gaudechon said Remedy would continue to build on its two "established" franchises in Control and Alan Wake, adding that: "Our focus is to build on what makes them special, support them, and grow them even further.
