Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Might Be Getting Modern Port Soon

A new age rating listing from the Australian government suggests that the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is getting a PS5 and Xbox Series port in the near future.

Compared to previous years, 2026 is a pretty good time to be a Call of Duty fan. Not only is the most recent game in the series, Modern Warfare 4, reviewing and selling much better than expected, but Activision has also been giving veteran fans of the series something to chew on with modern ports.

Both the first Black Ops and its futuristic sequel were ported to modern consoles earlier this year, notably including the entire multiplayer experience. While they weren’t amazing remasters by any stretch and had a higher price tag than most would like, they did let us get a sweet taste of COD nostalgia, one that’s seemingly coming back around for another beloved game.

As pointed out by scott1swann on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, the official Australian Classification has a new listing for the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, aka the best and most influential game in the whole franchise. The listing was filed on October 1, but seems to have only just been spotted recently.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 gives us a gripping Korean War campaign and satisfying gunplay, but its multiplayer tone holds it back.

Although the consoles for the new release of Modern Warfare 2 aren’t listed and we don’t get much information beyond it being rated R18+, this is almost certainly a modern port of the game like Black Ops recently got .
