Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3 Modders Are Launching Free Buried Remake Next Month

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has one of the most absurdly dedicated modding scenes in gaming, with fans painstakingly recreating all the classic maps Treyarch left behind to finally complete Zombie Chronicles. We've already seen the Green Run survival maps, Mob of the Dead, Call of the Dead, Nuketown, Die Rise, and Five brought over to the BO3 engine—and next month, Buried is joining them.

The dev team behind the project—Kingslayer Kyle, Blak, ThomasCat, OldManCats, Scobalula, and Swiftythree—just dropped a brand-new launch trailer for Buried Remastered ahead of its Steam Workshop release in November. It looks ridiculously polished, showing off the beautifully reconstructed underground western town, complete with Arthur, the Paralyzer, the haunted mansion's ghost, and Vulture Aid.

According to the Discord FAQ—which is a bit of a relic, dating back to 2022—the map packs a hybrid of classic BO2 weapons and BO3's arsenal, alongside full Gobblegum support. You'll also be able to grab extra perks through the Wunderfizz, while the Bank and Weapon Locker are making a comeback to let you stockpile points not just across Buried sessions, but Xela and Dobby's Die Rise Remastered, too.

Best of all, the original Black Ops 2 Easter Egg is returning in the remaster. And, unlike before, you won't need to corral a full four-player lobby to finish it, with the team making the whole quest playable regardless of your squad size.

Buried isn't the only classic map making the jump, either. While the bite-sized Green Run survival maps were ported over years ago, modders Xela and Dobby are now tackling a full-scale TranZit remake in Black Ops 3.
