Ever since the beginning of the Naruto series, the protagonist Naruto Uzumaki had the dream of becoming the Hokage of his own village one day. This dream was officially turned into reality in the very last chapter of the series, which was officially released on November 24, 2014, in Shonen Jump Issue #50, in which he rose to become the Seventh Hokage of Konoha.
12 years have passed since then, and now, Naruto's role as Konoha's Seventh Hokage is officially being shut down by the creator of the franchise, Masashi Kishimoto, as well as the writer of the sequel Boruto series, Mikio Ikemoto. Konoha is now moving towards appointing an Eighth Hokage in the new post-Mamushi arc of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, which awaits its next release on October 20, 2026.
The Boruto series has been quite a tumultuous ride for the character of the Seventh Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki. At the beginning of the series, Naruto was seen as the strongest shinobi on Earth, but with time, his strength clearly diminished as stronger foes started appearing one after another. Naruto and Sasuke were largely overwhelmed by the likes of Jigen, and in the battle against Isshiki Otsutsuki, things took a turn for the worse.
“The price to pay for Baryon Mode is my life, not yours. I've got to go, but be real careful. You aren't gonna have superhuman strength anymore. So if you overdo it, you'll end up joining me soon.
