Bethesda Previews Big Fallout 76 Updates for December 2026 and Spring 2027

Bethesda has launched a new Fallout 76 Public Test Server build previewing content planned for the game's next two major update windows. Some of the features included in the latest PTS release are planned to join Fallout 76 as early as December 2026, with the rest expected to materialize in 2027.

Bethesda first outlined both additions in September, while outlining its Fallout 76 content roadmap for the rest of 2026 and 2027. As usual, the upcoming features first arrived on the game's experimental PTS channel, with testing for them now officially expanding beyond PC to include the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.

Fans of the Fallout franchise can look forward to the release of Raven Rock, which is set to release next year.

The first of the two additions is Fallout 76's much-anticipated World Pets update, which Bethesda plans to release on December 1. The feature will allow existing C.A.M.P. pets to accompany players while exploring Appalachia, introducing commands to make them stay put, remain neutral, attack enemies, or focus on protecting their owner. Since pets will be able to participate in combat, they will also be revivable with Stimpaks when downed. The system will come with some restrictions, like not allowing pets in Raids or Shelters.

World Pets will also introduce a sizable progression system, with companions able to reach level 200. Progress is tracked by species rather than by individual creature, which should streamline gameplay and result in a more accessible leveling loop. The progression grind can improve pet health and damage while also unlocking player bonuses and cosmetic rewards such as Fallout 76 outfits , backpacks, and Player Titles.
