Progression in Once Human is closely tied to tech trees that require Tech Points, which are used to unlock a wide variety of items and buildings. Players can get Tech Points in Once Human by leveling up, but the best way to get them is to use the Reverse Engineering mechanic, which you can do by disassembling pre-built crafting stations and other base items on the map and taking them to your base's Tech Research Workbench.

Every adventure in the weird, eldritch world of Once Human begins with picking your character's class.

First, you'll need to craft a Recycling Tool at a Supplies Workbench. Then, visit POIs around the map and look for pre-built base structures and facilities like workbenches, furnaces, Securement Pods, and more. If it's something that appears in your Build menu, then it's a valid target.

Make sure to have more than one Recycling Tool since they break easily.

Once you find a valid facility out in the wilds, whip out your Recycling Tool and get to recycling. Your character will disassemble the targeted item and place it in your inventory.

After taking all the facilities you need, return to your base, build a Tech Research Workbench, then interact with it. Under the Reverse Engineering tab , press the big plus icon in the middle of the screen, then select the things you want to reverse engineer . You can do this on smaller items like weapons, ammunition, and food as well. Add the desired items to your Research Queue, then exit out of the item selection menu .
