Fans of horror or obscure liminal spaces have been eating exceptionally well this year, what with all the outstanding horror games and movies—one of which being Kane Parsons' silver screen debut, The Backrooms film. As a fan of Parsons' YouTube series I was pretty confident that this film would nail the Backrooms, and I was right. But now that's done, fans are left wondering what's next for Parsons.
There have been rumours of a Backrooms sequel swirling pretty much since the first screening of the film ended, but there's nothing concrete. Parsons, though, has since confirmed during an interview with The Kyle Buchanan Show that he's working "on three dream projects, currently". So if we assume The Backrooms sequel is one of them, what could the other two be? Well, it could have something to do with the Valve hoodie Parsons is wearing in the interview.
Parsons has shared stories about going to visit Valve HQ on his social media a couple of times, each one sparking new rumours of the potential collaboration that he could be cooking up. He's openly talked about how influential the Portal games have been on his creative journey, so most fans are betting on that as his adaptation of choice. But mum's the word: "They'd get me with their space lasers if I speak about it," Parsons says. "They can see through walls. They're very serious." Yup, sounds like Valve to me.
The most Parsons can talk about when it comes to Valve is just how nice they are.
