Apple TV has cemented itself as the home of great television, with acclaimed series like Ted Lasso, Silo, and Severance demonstrating the platform's appetite for compelling stories and interesting characters. After suspenseful TV shows like Slow Horses and Presumed Innocent also impressed critics, it should be no surprise that Apple TV is releasing another thriller series to keep fans occupied.
Premiering this week, Apple TV's next small-screen outing is Nocturne, which adapts the best-selling crime novels The Sandman and Lazarus by Lars Kepler, the pen name of Swedish writing duo Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril and Alexander Ahndoril. Their Joona Linna novels have sold millions of copies worldwide, giving Nocturne a popular story to draw from. In only two days, fans will finally be able to see the psychological thriller books come to life.
From Heat's brutal violence to Se7en's dark subject matter, these are the best R-rated thrillers ever made.
Premiering this week, Nocturne stars Liv Schreiber as Jonah Lynn, a former soldier now working as a homicide detective who leaves the dangerous streets of Philadelphia in the hopes of building a quieter life in a small Pennsylvanian town. His plans for a fresh start quickly fall apart when his community comes under threat from Jurek Walter, a "diabolically cunning" serial killer who could be orchestrating the murders while imprisoned. As his investigation intensifies, Jonah finds himself confronting a nightmare that threatens everything he's tried so hard to keep buried.
Lars Kepler has published 11 Joona Linna novels, including The Hypnotist, The Nightmare, The Fire Witness, The Sandman, Stalker, The Rabbit Hunter, Lazarus, The Mirror Man, The Spider, The Sleepwalker, and Medusa .
