Anime's Most Iconic Toy of the '90s Is Officially Returning With New Release

The Moon Stick is one of the most iconic wands in the magical girl Sailor Moon franchise, which is why it's been recreated several times as a toy, for both children and adults. One of Bandai's toy brands, Tamashii Nations, will soon revive the 1992 Moon Stick toy for a brand-new release that's inspired by the wand in the '90s Sailor Moon anime.

Bandai has made several Sailor Moon toys and replicas, and Moon Sticks are among them. One of the most recent Moon Stick replicas was a life-size version released as part of the Bandai Proplica collection in 2014. It was then re-reissued in 2024 to mark its 10th anniversary. Before Proplica's stunning version, fans used to play with Tamashii Nations' Moon Stick toy back in the '90s, which was just as graceful.

The 1992 Moon Stick toy lights up and produces a jingle when the star button is pressed. The toy, coming to fans' shelves in Tamashii Nations' Resparkle collection, is expected to include the same features, so fans can expect it to do this as well. More details will be revealed this weekend when the first Moon Stick in the Resparkle edition is shown at the Tokyo Toy Show 2026 on Aug. 29 and Aug. 30.

Aside from these details, not much else is known about the upcoming Moon Stick toy. Release date, price, and pre-order launch date have not been disclosed, so fans should be on the lookout for more information.

While some fans were excited to see the return of the toy, many voiced their wishes for Bandai to focus on continuing the Proplica collection instead.
