EA has officially announced the return of Fight Night, its long-dormant boxing series. This announcement of a new Fight Night game comes more than 15 years after the launch of the series' last entry.
Making its debut in 2004 with the appropriately named Fight Night 2004, EA's boxing series broke new ground for the genre, delivering realism and a distinct, intuitive analog stick-based control scheme dubbed 'Total Punch Control.' The first Fight Night entry received very favorable reviews across the board, and that positive reception carried through to the game's four sequels, all of which earned higher than an 80 on Metacritic.
Unfortunately for fans of EA-published games, yet another title from the company is permanently shutting down soon.
On October 20, 2026, a brand-new, official EA Sports Fight Night account appeared on Twitter. In its debut post, the EA Sports Fight Night account addressed "everyone who stayed in our corner," and announced that "Fight Night is coming back." This announcement comes 15 years and 7 months after the release of Fight Night's last entry, Fight Night Champion.
There's currently no official word on when EA plans to release this new Fight Night game , or when fans will be able to see footage for themselves. There's also been no word on what this new Fight Night is bringing to the table in terms of new modes or gameplay mechanics. Additionally, some fans are a little skeptical over the upcoming game's potential use of microtransactions, especially given that Fight Night Champion released on the PS3 and Xbox 360 before microtransactions became a core part of the EA Sports experience.
