Every Power Rangers team is different from the last, with the number of Rangers and/or their colors often changing season by season. One thing each Power Rangers group has, though, is something that every team needs: a captain. The Rangers are all about cooperation and teamwork, but they wouldn't be able to unite their abilities half as well without a fearless leader; someone to stand at the front of their formation as they charge into battle against the latest monster-of-the-week.

Across the 23 series that make up the Power Rangers franchise, the Rangers have had an awful lot of amazing leaders (and a small handful of awful leaders, too), but some characters stand out from the pack, in particular. While the team's leader is usually a Red Ranger, this isn't always the case, and sometimes a different colored Ranger is the one in a senior position or with the greater capacity to call the shots. From friends under evil spells to multiversal threats, the Power Rangers have faced many different forms of Evil Rangers.

Power Rangers didn't get its first female Red Ranger until 2012's Super Samurai , and even then Lauren Shiba only appeared for five episodes. It took until 2022's Cosmic Fury , the final PR season to be released to date, for a female Red Ranger to be a main character. For that alone, Amelia Jones deserves her props, even if the series unfortunately sidelines her sometimes.
