Scimplify raises $25 Mn in strategic round led by Hitachi Ventures

Scimplify, a Bengaluru based advanced materials and specialty chemicals manufacturer, has raised $25 million in a strategic funding round led by Hitachi Ventures.

Accel India, Bertelsmann India Investments, Omnivore and 3one4 Capital also participated in the round. Henkel and Teknor Apex joined as new investors. Both companies are also Scimplify’s customers, while Teknor Apex will serve as a manufacturing partner for its US expansion.

The latest funding takes Scimplify’s total equity capital raised to $80 million. The company plans to use the proceeds to expand its research, processing and manufacturing capabilities in the US, with a focus on materials used in semiconductors, defence, energy and AI infrastructure.

Founded in 2023 by Sachin Santhosh, Salil Srivastava, Dheeraj Dhingra and Hersh Manek, Scimplify develops manufacturing processes to convert raw materials, industrial waste and laboratory discoveries into high purity materials for commercial applications.

The company combines in house scientists and laboratories with its AI enabled platform, Scinode, to develop materials and scale up their production. Its platform maps more than 500 manufacturing facilities and helps identify suitable production routes, equipment and manufacturing partners.

Scimplify said it has served customers in more than 40 countries. More than 40% of its portfolio is focused on advanced materials for semiconductors, batteries and critical minerals, according to the company.

The startup cited projects across semiconductor chemicals, battery materials and tungsten as examples of its work. In one case, it developed a purification process for a high purity chemical used in semiconductor manufacturing and delivered a sample that passed the customer's process test within two months.
